Looks Like Blogging Isn't Really My Thing

April 14th, 2007 at 11:54 pm

I do like to write, but it seems like I either don't have the time to do a decent job at something I'm working on, or I revise, revise, and yet again revise, never reaching a final acceptable result. The moral of this little story is: Just Do It. I will never produce deathless prose. Maybe I'll regret not fine-tuning something I've put on paper (or in this case, on screen), but if it never gets written it was never going to be of use anyway. This won't help anyone save - heck, it's not helping me save either. But I'm in the process of trying to work out some of the kinks in my life: Weight, clutter, career stuckedness, and of course, the desire to do better with my finances. All of it has become related in a sort of "personal clog" and I've been working on a grand plan to get all of it unstuck. More later. For now, I'm throwing caution to the winds and posting an entry to say, I'm still alive, still kicking, still trying to figure out "what's it all about?"

Rats I am a 50-ish person saving for retirement, write more, just write and send, no need to edit, I certainly don't!

My only suggestion is to go slow. To adapt one habit every week (or every two weeks) that get you where you want to go.

One that worked for me that might work for you is to set your coffee maker on automatic so that you get up to a hot fresh cup of coffee. I'd have that with a piece of crustless quiche I made on the weekend (usually only a point or two on WW - you can google recipes) and froze in bite size portions. Instant savings and balance breakfast! And a small step on two goals.

For the clutter stuff I'm a big flylady plan. Put the timer on for 5-15 minutes and just get up and toss out clutter. Really doesn't matter from where. If you can do this 5 of 7 days it will really start to make a difference over time. I did my bathroom and then my bedroom first so I had two "sanctuaries" and after that it slowly spread throughout my house - but has taken about 4 years - but you didn't get it all at once you can't get rid of it all at once (sort of like weight!

Sorry for such a long comment!

Yummy is so right on the flylady concepts! I am still working on the decluttering, too. Little steps, little steps.
